I use Netscape 4.x and I can't see the webcast, what should I do?
You need to download the Windows Media Player plug-in for Netscape Navigator from Microsoft. During installation, Windows Media Player 6.4 will automatically install the plugin if it detects that Netscape Navigator is already on your PC. If you installed Netscape Navigator 4.x after Windows Media Player, you will need to install this plugin manually or re-install Windows Media Player 6.4

I use Mac OS 8.1 or later, which Media Player should I use?
You will need the Windows Media Player 8.01. If you do not have it, you can download it.

I'm not using the Windows or Mac operating system, which player is right for me?
We suggest you go the Windows Media Player download center, and find the appropriate player for your system.

What does 56k mean and what is the difference between 56k, 100k and 300k?
The numbers you see next to the media descriptions describe the minimum Internet connections you need to experience the media. 56k requires a minimum of a 37kbs connection to the internet. The content may be transferred at a lower rate, but suitable for the connection speed. You can always play the lower speed content over high-speed lines. The higher the number (100k, 300k, etc.) generally implies better overall quality of content.

Do I need a high-speed connection to the Internet to watch Streaming Media?
No, but it certainly helps. A DSL or Cable modem is preferred, but a dialup will work and in fact works very well for audio-only webcasts. If you wish to directly stream on the Internet from your location, then a lot more than a high-speed connection would be required. You need lots of capacity, or you will choke your Internet connection very quickly.

What is the difference between a streaming video and a video I download?

Video on the Internet comes in a variety of different forms

1. Downloadable movies are video files that are saved directly to your computer for viewing. Files of this sort are often AVI, Qucktime or MPEG. File download times are dependent upon the size of the file and the end-users internet connection. This method of viewing video has the major disadvantage, that the entire video file must be downloaded befor viewing. Thus, longer programs, which are larger files, will take much longer to download.

2. By contrast, streaming media files play while they are being downloaded to the desktop. This is similar to broadcast television distribution. The major advantage of this viewing method is that files are saved to the user's computer and large files start to play after a short initialization and buffereing period.
